We are experiencing an unusual error. We have several url based reports (like http://server:port/xmlpserver/ReportDirectory/ReportName.xdo with parameters attached) that use pdf templates.
1) From within our applications, the links generate a "File does not begin with '%PDF-'. Local EWH-56828-0" in general
2) If we log into the BI Publisher, and return to the page in the application, the report links work fine, generating the pdf without any error, passes all parameters correctly, etc.
All reports have been set to 'Run report online'. Does anyone have a clue what might resolve this error while still using url links?

please post your specific URL in full ... maybe you have a switch out of place in it.

can you please verify if you are able to run the report in regular mode .. i am thinking your are hitting either one below ..
1) mostly there is some issue with the data source
2) there may be a data issue..(long datatype)
