Is it possible to create link-level links between two subgroups?

Summary
Is it possible to create link-level links between two subgroups?
Content
I am using BI Publisher Enterprise / OBIEE 11.1.1.7:
I am trying to recreate a data model in BI Publisher Enterprise based on a Reports Builder RDF data model, but I and having difficulty reproducing the structure:
Should it be possible to create links between the two groups G_PO_LINE and G_BL_PO_SHIPMENT?
Also, the hover links are put up into the far corner, which appears to be a bug.
G_PO.PO_HEADER_ID -> G_BLPO_SHIPMENT_ID.PO_HEADER_ID
G_PO.PO_LINE_ID -> G_BL_PO_SHIPMENT.PO_LINE_ID
However, after I create the links and save the data model, the G_PO_DIST group and links all disappear when the data model is reloaded!

There are so much things that you can do at template level than data model ,doing at data model has better performance ,something that cannot be achieved at data model can do at template , and your requirement can do at both level. Thanks

BI Publisher 11.1.1.9.0 build 20161208
I don't think a "link" in an RTF is the same as a SQL join(?) and this is what I need to produce the proper result set. Some of the things I need to do are best done at the data model level and are difficult (if not impossible to accomplish in an RTF template.

Yes, that is what I am doing… element level links between two queries that have TWO groups each. This seems to cause problems. I have filed an SR with Oracle and they are investigating why the structure is not preserved by the BI Publisher application (as it is in Reports Builder). Stay tuned.
I have tried the RTF approach. The example I've shown is a simple one. The actual report requires several more queries and ~ 30 sums across different groupings. This seems like too much to ask of an RTF template since they are intended more for formatting output.

Try creating element level link,
Or
You can regroup data or link different data sets at RTF template level.
please upload xml , rtf template(if created) , sample output.
