Oracle Data Visualization - Essbase Connection

Hi all,

We are trying to use Oracle Data Visualization to create some reports from Essbase.

We are able to create the connection, to select one cube but when we create the project Oracle DV is not showing the dimensions or the members of the Essbase cube.

In some cases (with the Sample.Basic) it shows the dimensions but no members or generations, we can see only the folders for all the dimensions.

In other cases instead we cannot even see the dimensions names, it looks like it is loading but nothing happens.

Has this issue ever happened to someone else? Any idea about how to solve it?

Hi Michele,

re-define the connection. instead of using server name in DSN define the IP Address of the server. then you should be able to see the members.

now i can see members after using IP address

** to figure out the issue browse the log file (obis1-diagnostic) under the path :

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Temp\DVDesktop\logs\OBIS

if you see socket communication error in your log file then you have problem connecting Essbase Server , then you IP Address of Essbase Server in the DSN field of the connection. hope this helps you to fix your issue.
