Please provide more information ... how are you planning on displaying the information (template)? what does your data model look like currently in BIP?

Actually I went for an interview and I was asked to insert a blank row in the report. There is a hierarchy column like
P1
C1
C2
blank row
P2
C2
C3
blank row
.....
.......
........
Where P is parent and C is child.

I doubt that a forum is an appropriate place to ask for answers for your interview questions...

If I was asked that ... I'd have given my same answer with an explanation of why - coming from years of experience.
^ was confusing this ask with another ... but turns out I'd do it in the data model and not screw around with a template at all ...

I am not sure Thomas. I was asked about that question and it was for an OBIEE requirement. I was shocked like how it can be done in OBIEE analytics. Then I realized like that it may be done in BI Publisher. Hence, just put this question in the forum to get the response, if any. I just wanted to know like whether it is possible or not to create such report with such data. I am not from BI publisher but what i heard like such settings can be done in BI Publisher.
