Embedding DVD content on remote Siebel IP14

Content

Hi there,

I have been playing around a bit with DVD 12c (version 54) in order to create some analysis. So far I only saw PDF and PPT as export formats. I would like to know if there is a way to embed such visualizations into a Siebel IP14 via an iframe. If so, if included in a view with a filtered list applet of accounts, for instance, can it be context aware passing some parameters?

I am aware such url embeding can be done with the cloud solution though in this case the remotes will be off the internet grid.

Thanks for any hints you may be able to share

Steve

    Hi Gianni,

Thanks for the quick reply. Indeed DVD is a desktop application and has no server capabilities. My thoughts were more in embedding some sort of standalone file with similar behaviour to what a flash one.
Would you the nsuggest to insert OBIEE on Siebel with DV embeded?
Cloud can't be an option as the remotes will not have connectivity.

    Thanks again for your support

  • OBIEE is getting away from flash in 12c, and DVD is based on OBIEE, so same thing: it uses HTML5 instead of flash.

You can export PDF, that's probably your best way to get a "file" you can then display / link somewhere else.

I'm not suggesting to use OBIEE as it's a totally different approach (DVD being a file you download and run to install on your laptop/PC, while OBIEE requires a server, need to maintained, licensing etc.).

There isn't an easy answer, it really depends on the needs and the current context (tools available and used etc.).

Also don't forget you can save the DVD project and send out that one, so people with DVD can open it and use it.

  • Hi,

DVD is a desktop application, not a server application. So you can't include it in anything as it must run on your own desktop.

To embed "something" you need a server solution like the cloud services you mention or OBIEE which comes with DV on top.
