    Hi

    According to Oracle Data Visualization Desktop Downloads , DVD v4 is only compatible with Mac OS Yosemite (10.10), El Capitan (10.11), Sierra (10.12). Unfortunately it’s not compatible with High Sierra (10.13)

    High Sierra has been out for some time now!  with all the security issues out, updating to this new version is pretty much a requiremen.  I would not like to give up using DVD.  Can anyone give me an update when DVD will support the current release of OSX (High Sierra)?

    thanks,

  • Why don't you just go by the easiest way? DVD on Mac already had limited functionalities, so get yourself a Windows virtual machine in which you use DVD latest version at its best with all the feature.

    (That's because you never ask Oracle to give you an answer about "when" something will come, as over the last 10 years of experience with them that's the really only question they do not answer )

    That's why DVD doesn't work on it

    </sarcasm>

    I'm not going to start a fan-boy or troll discussion on "mine is bigger" with Windows vs. OS X, let's stay on facts.

    It's a fact today you can't install DVD on High Sierra.

    It's a fact that "little to no difference" still means that there are differences (and wouldn't call that little: ).

    It's a fact that right now if you want to use DVD on High Sierra you need a VM running Windows.

    Take it or leave it: I'm not an Oracle employee supposed to develop DVD, I just pointed out what is the current only way to have DVD on High Sierra at this time (date & time of this post except if I'm so unlucky Oracle is releasing a new versing right now!).

    For the licensing part (there isn't really a DVD license, DVD is added on top of a bunch of other products being the key part of the license) / support ... you have the contact details of your Oracle account manager, that's the person complain with (although he/she will not really be able to do a lot for it).

    Or open a SR and blame them directly.

    PS: don't get me wrong, I can objectively understand your frustration because of that, I just can't do anything to change it other than remembering the only possible workaround if your life depends on a DVD thing you need to do right now on High Sierra !

    Please don't lecture us on what OS to use. macOS has superior qualities in many regards. And I work in both.

    There were little to no deficiencies between the latest Mac and Windows versions, in fact the Mac install, including advanced analytics, was far easier in our work environment.

    If Oracle is licensing and supporting a product, they damn sure better keep up with upgrades. Period. High Sierra has been available in developer versions since September.
