How would a View Selecor with out a dropdown select a view to display? And what's the aim of a View Selector without a dropdown for a view to select?

  • +1'000'000 for what Christian said

Kalpana: do you mean you want to remove the view selector from your analysis and just keep the view itself? Drop the "view selector" view and place the correct view where you want it ...

    Hi Christian,Ceresa,

I have a requirement to remove the drop down of the view selector but keep its contents, it is similar to compound layout but i need the same functionality(without the drop down) in the view selctor.

For Example : I have added a compound layout(with a graph and table) to the view selector. and the view selector drop down says "Compound Layout". I want to remove the dropdown "Compound Layout", but keep the view( graph and table) Just like the compound layout. I have to use view selector only but without the drop down.

I can do this using javascript, but wanted to know if it can be done using xml.

    Thanks,

    Kalpana

    Hi,

"View Selector" serves to swith between 2 or more objects.

If you need to show one, 2, 3 views and so on without possibility to swith betweet them you can remove your "View Selector" and publish that on Compound Layout

Note that all your available views are in view panel located on your left side

Seriously I don't get what you're trying to achieve here. If you just want to show the graph and table (that's 2 views by the way, not one) then jsut put them into another compount layout and show that. You can have as many compound layouts as you want and you can choose to display whatever you want when putting an analysis onto a dashboard.

    Hi Felipe, Christian,

Thanks for your comment. I came up with the View selector solution for a requirement. There can be easier ways to do it, but considering my requirement, I got to this solution.

I have to bundle Graph and Narrative as one view and have borders around it.So, I put them in compound layout, but i dont have option of borders for compound layout and i dont want to use Dashboard section borders as they are rounded.

so, i came up with putting the compound layout into the view selector, and adding a border for them and it worked. Now, the question is how to remove the drop down of the view selector. As i said, i can do it with Javascript, but i wanted to know if it can be done in the xml itself.

    Thanks,

    Kalpana

  • Can't be done in the XML as it's what makes a view selector a view selector, so the XML can't help you...

+1 to "it's what makes a View Selector a View Selector" since I keep saying that since the first post...

    Hi Kalpana,

    See if it helps you

    You'll need of these objects:

    1 - A Graph View

    2 - A Narrative View

    So, follow these steps:

1 - Add both views on your Compound Layout (For Example Graph above Narrative View)

2 - See that each object has its own border, you have now to set that as You want

3 - Graph View - Set up border on left, right and above object view

4 - Narrative View - Set up border on left, right and bellow object view

Done, you have a bundle with two objects inside a border

    Hope this help

    Hi Felipe Idalgo,

I have tried this option of borders before going into my complex solution. When i give borders in such a way, what i get is a broken border on the dashboard (space between the view in the borders) which is very easily visible.

    Thanks,

    Kalpana
