Remove the EDIT option for Custom reports in OTBI

Hello ,

I have a question regarding the restriction of access rights for OTBI. We would like to remove the EDIT option that every report has (please see below) .

These reports are custom reports hence saved in Shared files/Custom and we would like that the end user do not modify but they can save them in My Folder and modify them there. I tried using the Permission section , by creating a special BI role and giving it full control but the other users still had the option to edit the reports. Can somebody help me please? Thank you

Regards,

'Edit' option automatically appears for Users with 'BI-Author' role or even if it's inherited as part of Fusion custom roles. The only option is to remove the BI-Author privilege from the roles.

    Hi Vlad,

If you do not want people to be able to edit analytics then you need to either a) create custom job roles to revoke standard role BI-Author from all the roles they have ( a good idea!) or b) change the privileges assigned to the standard role BI-Author (a bad idea :( ) on the page Manage Privileges as BI Administrator. For example, if you want to stop people with role BI-Author from being able to edit an analysis using answers then you can do so.

Edit the privilege "Access to Answers"

or perhaps a more fine grained approach with sub sets of privilegs to do more or less things on an analysis

or c) change the permission on a folder so an bi-author cannot edit the file in it

    BTW

Also the "Edit" option on the dashboard pages at the bottom of an analysis (rather than in teh catalog) is shown by default only for authors and not for consumers using the out of the box configuration but you can also override whether it is displayed or not. You can change the setting of these "report links" at the dashboard level for all pages, or the page level for all analysis on a page, or for each analysis on a page.

    Hello Nathan,

Thank you for your answer. I created a custom role with the below privileges but the user does not have access to "Tools" in order to see "Reports and Analytics". Do you know which privilege should I add to it in order to see them on the Springboard? Thanks

    Regards,

Hi, I tell my users to go direct to /analytics/ as a favourite in their browser rather than waste 3 clicks going from the navigator menu using the work area Reports and Analytics (which is what the "Browse Catalog" button does).

All our users have autoprovision either role Employee Worker or role Contingent Worker based on their worker type in HCM. That is at least what gives them access to the work area Reports and Analytics. So have a look in there for the inherit role or function security privilege that gives acces to this navigator menu work area.

Maybe use the the security console to do the "simulator navigator" stuff to explore to "view roles that grant access to a navigatory entry" and "view privileges required for menu" etc
