Is it possible to use Variables in Selection steps (Calculated Item)?

Hi Gurus,

I have an analysis which is created with 2 calculated items created using selection steps. Values that are used to in these calculated items are hard coded and need to be dynamic. I am trying to replace hard coded values with Repository variables but seems OBIEE does not accept it.

Has any one faced this issue before? Is there any workaround?
