can Migrate reports, users and permission from obiee 11g (11.1.1.7.1) TO OAS 7.0.0 ?
Hi @User_Z9MDK ,
You still need 11.1.1.9 to properly generate the migration bundle with all your metadata
You have to upgrade to OBIEE 11.1.1.9 first, then you can migrate to the latest version of OAS: https://docs.oracle.com/en/middleware/bi/analytics-server/migrate-upgrade-oas/migrating-oracle-business-intelligence-11g.html#GUID-D0867450-1AEF-43DE-8144-7816F7105CB1
Also, please review the post migration tasks section in the below documentation to better understand the security related configuration migration. You will have to reconfigure, if you are using any external LDAP
https://docs.oracle.com/en/middleware/bi/analytics-server/migrate-upgrade-oas/migration-steps-oracle-bi-ee.html#GUID-5C43110F-0009-426B-83E5-1586215A174E
I already have OAS 7.0.0 on another server
so I need to move reports, users, and permission from OBIEE 11.1.1.7 To OAS 7.0.0
Hi User_Z9MDK,
Yes you need to be on 11.1.1.9, please find the screen shot from same documentation where version name is called out.
I found this document telling us that from version 11.1.1.7 and above it is possible to move to OAS :
https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1221/core/BIMIG/GUID-D0867450-1AEF-43DE-8144-7816F7105CB1.htm#BIMIG-GUID-D0867450-1AEF-43DE-8144-7816F7105CB1
The documented you shared refers to OBIEE 11g to 12c migration. It's not related to OAS.
Hello nameless user,
You may consider updating your username, it's always nicer to talk to a name instead of an alphanumeric string :)
With regards to your question: Federico gave you the official answer. For using the migration utility you have to be on 11.1.1.9.
For moving the Web Catalog (your "reports" in your original question) and the RPD (your metadata) you can still do it via the command line. This way you don't have to do 2 upgrades. The security isn't taken over though so it's a question of what is more effort: 2 upgrades or 1 manual one where you recreate your security in OAC.
It's one of the topics I cover for your region as well so if you want to have a chat you can ask your Oracle sales rep to get me involved.
Adding on Christian comment: migrating the security, mostly when migrating from such an old version to OAS 2023, will anyway result in you losing some admin privileges because of new policies that aren't there in the migration. The forum has such kind of post every 1-2 weeks.
Migrating the security from your OBIEE 11g to OAS is also just a few lines of a script to export the security model on one side and create it on the new environment extending the default security instead of overriding it.
Therefore, no 11.1.1.9 needed, you can absolutely 100% migrate from your 11.1.1.7 to OAS 2023, you just need to do it differently than what is covered in the doc (also because they can't document every possible situation and then each environment is different etc.).
100%, Gianni, which is why I have no qualms about moving from 11.1.1.7 to OAC.

The user icon in the upper-right corner of OAC (DV) is displaying more menu options for our non-admin users than we wish to display. We would like to restrict these to only "Profile" and "Sign Out" for regular users. Is there a way to customize these menu items? Especially if we can control this via security, that would be…

Am I missing something or is there no way to search through previous posts to make sure I don't duplicate a question? All I see on the filter options are tags or status… a general search for a word or phrase would be helpful.
We were under the impression that when exporting a visualization in DV to CSV format hidden columns would be include from the grammar panel. This is not happening. See below for a screenshot showing 3 hidden columns that do not appear when exporting the pivot table to CSV. This seems to have worked a month or so back but…
