Ability to move/reorder pivot table/table columns in Present mode

We recently converted some DV workbooks over to use Present mode in order to give developers more control over what users can do/see, but the users have now lost the ability to move/reorder columns in pivot tables/tables. They are used to having this capability in our classic content as well - it gives them a critical way to "personalize" these reports and allows on-the-fly analysis while still preventing them from having too much control over content.

  • Hello,

Just to confirm, you lost this ability in consumer mode ie when user opens the workbook from Home or Catalog, they land on a 'non-edit' mode.

We removed an feature in Consumer mode where the product allowed users to add filters (on the workbook filter bar) and drag/drop to the table. The column re-order must be allowed, i will check on this.

    Thanks.

Hi Avinash, any update on this?

Our users are only assigned BI Consumer for these workbooks. In our first release over a year ago we published these workbooks in Visualize mode for the users but this gave them too much control over deleting/adding filters, etc. In the current release we published these workbooks in Present mode so we were able to restrict the features we didn't want them to use. However, now instead of being able to reorder columns in tables/pivot tables they can only delete columns.

This should be a selectable feature just like sort by, drill, export, etc. It is extremely useful for users to be able to reorder columns to enhance their analysis, rather than just exporting to excel and doing it there.

    Thanks

    Rhonda

  • Hi Rhonda,

The work to reenable the reorder of column is prioritized. The work is waiting on resource assignment, and hope to start development work in the next few days.

    Thanks

    Avinash

  • We have delivered this functionality - in viewer mode, as a end user you should be able to move/re-order columns and remove columns on table and pivot tables.

    Thanks
