Hierarchies are creating duplicate rows in OAS but not OBIEE 12C. This report works as expected in OBIEE but we are getting duplicate rows in OAS. The xml for the reports are exactly the same in OAS as it is in OBIEE.

  • Hi,
    1. Please update your display name, so we know with whom we are communicating with.

    2. For the community sake, please supply complete details and supporting information such as screenshots, etc.

    A non-exhaustive list.

Which update of OAS are you on (2023, 2024)?
Is your patching up to date?
Did you perform an in-place upgrade, or an out-of-place-migration?
    Can you supply screen shots?
Have you completed the logical and physical SQL between the two in the session logs?
Accessing the same datasource? What is the data source?

If you are unable to supply the information here, then please open a Service Request.

  • What Steve said …

It isn't the XML of the analysis generating duplicates, it's more mistakes in the modelling, wrong logical keys and things like that, generating a different query.

For example: does your RPD contain any warning or error? There shouldn't be any, you should fix them to start with a "clean" state, then analyse the queries generated and find why the tool believe the query should be done the way it is done. It's often small details that matters when modelling things in the RPD.

@SteveF-Oracle I started with an SR but the engineer was not sure what to do and referred me here.

  • OAS 2022 is out error correction support dates, you should consider upgrading to a supported version (OAS has a lifespan of about 2 years, a version is supported a year after the release of the next one, and it is being released on a yearly base).

Your source is Essbase? And the exact same MDX query is generated by the 2 systems? In the detailed logs, do you see anything else in the various tasks performed suggesting that the product is doing something very different between the 2 environments?

  • @User_5ROX7 - In addition to Gianni's questions, what is the SR#. I want to see which team referred you here.

  • I think the intent was for you to create an Ideas Lab request, not to repost the question/problem.

I check your screenshot for 12c and your OAS .mp4, and they are not the same.

It appears in OAS, you are using hierarchical Selection Steps with "Override with Prompt"
In 12c screenshot, I do not see this additional prompt from organization (maybe I miss something).

I don't see how this worked (if like-to-like) in 12c because we have the following Enhancement Requests that were never marked as implemented.

    • Enhancement Request 13578857 - PM: ADD PROMPTING OPTION TO HIERARCHY SELECTION TYPE STEPS. (closed)
    • Enhancement Request 14769159 - PM: ADD PROMPTING TO HIERARCHY RELATIONSHIP SELECTION TYPE STEPS. (closed)
    • Enhancement Request 32410700 - NEED TO HAVE A SELECTION STEP ON AN ANALYSIS SELECT THE CHILDREN OR CHILDREN INCLUDING SELECTION OF THE OVERRIDE WITH PROMPT FOR A HIERARCHY COLUMN (open - filed against OBI 12.2.1.4)
