Extracting Substitution Variables from cube using RPD
Hi all,
I would like to use a substitution variable from Essbase within our OAC dashboard. However, I can not get the substitution variable to pull through correctly. I have tried two separate options.
- Using the default Repository Variables that were created on import and pulling in the variable with The VALUEOF expression
- Creating a new repository variable and initialization block.
I believe I am missing a step on each. Specifically what to put in as the Default Initialization String to refresh the variable.
If anyone has the correct steps please let me know.

When you import the cube into the RPD the SubVars for that cube will show up as Dynamic Variables
I usually create a separate database and connection pool with imported cubes just for SubVars and have the Service Account get the values. then delete the variables for the cubes that are for the dashboards since that connection pool is using sso.8
