  • Hi,

Where did you see that OBIEE 11g is supported and certified on Windows 10? OBIEE 11g must be something like 6 years old, not really sure Windows 10 existed at that time.

Adding to that you are trying to install a server product on a consumer OS, nothing good can happen.

To make it short: OBIEE 11g can be installed on Windows 7 for testing and development only (for a single user), so Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 were never tested or supposed to be supported.

Install yourself a virtual machine (virtualbox is free) and install a better OS for your OBIEE 11g : your OS will be supported and you keep your own Windows 10 clean.

Thanks a lot for your quick response !!

I don't know whether OBIEE supports on windows 10 OS or not, but I assumed and tried to install on windows 10. I had spent almost 3days but could not succeeded. I'll try to install on windows 7 and let you know once done with it.

    Hi Joel,

I have checked the documenation and metion that OBIEE supports in Windows 8.1. Can I install same in windows 8.1 ? or are there any limitations to install ?

    Narendra

    Hi Narendra

As long as it's in the matrix, it should be fine.

  • If you are installing 11.1.1.9 you can on a Windows 8.1.

The "limitations" are these (from the certification matrix) :

    1. Windows 8.1 is supported for single user only in a development environment. 2. Native support on 64 bit OS with no XP mode. 3. JDK 7 certification is available only with WLS 10.3.6+/FMW 11.1.1.6+. Oracle does not support use of JDK 7 with WLS 10.3.1-10.3.5/FMW 11.1.1.1.0 - 11.1.1.5.0.

Just double check if WLS is already 10.3.6 (can't remember if by default it's already 10.3.6 or 10.3.5) because otherwise you have an unsupported case (OBIEE 11.1.1.9 will require JDK 1.7 in Windows 8.1 but maybe the out of the box WLS doesn't not support it).

Honestly, as Christian said earlier, if you want to learn or see OBIEE take the SampleApp (you can download old versions based on 11.1.1.9 like SA506 for example).

If your target is to learn how to install it do it directly on a Windows Server OS or Linux.

Just browse this forum and you'll see a lot of people facing various issues related to installations on desktop OSes (Win 7, 8, 10). So it's a good idea to use a server OS for an enterprise software. Unless you know what (and why) you are doing.
