Oracle Analytics Cloud - SmartView Capabilities

Question

I'm looking to export reports into Excel for purposes of refreshing the report frequently for most up to date data. I have experience doing this with TRC and FCC, but am unsure of OAC's ability to do this. Some articles say that the refresh capability is doable, but you have to build/recreate the report in excel (no export feature). Just looking for some guidance - can you export directly from OAC into a SmartView enabled excel workbook and refresh the file for new data?

Welcome to the Oracle Analytics community and forum.

You can't export a "refreshable report via SmartView" from OAC.

SmartView should be seen as a different "interface" to query data accessible in OAC.

But from SmartView you should be able, if I'm not wrong, to point to an existing object in OAC (in my memory it was working with "classic" analyses) and that will get you started without needing to recreate everything from scratch.

But it's a number of years I didn't use SmartView with OAC, therefore I'm maybe remembering a bit wrong :D
