Is there a document that describes changing the expiring account passwords created in the database as part of the Business Intelligence (Standalone) installation?

The accounts are <prefix>_iau_append, stb, mds, iau_viewer, iau,wls_runtime, wls, opss, biplatform

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Madhu,

Welcome to the Oracle Analytics community and forum.

The password of the database accounts (schemas) created by the RCU before to install OBIEE 12c expire based on the default profile on your database.

It's something your DBA can easily adjust if needed, because it isn't influenced, or decided, by OBIEE. It's all defined by your own database.

If you have an Oracle database, what the DBA usually do is to assign a different profile to those accounts which are technical accounts and not linked to humans. Therefore they usually have password that expire a bit less frequently (but you should still rotate password from time to time even for these accounts for safety reasons).

Speak with your DBA, it's on their hands, OBIEE doesn't handle that at all.

    Hi Gianni,

Thank you but I am looking for how to change the passwords, not how to avoid it. There is no choice here, we have to change the passwords every year as per the compliance requirements.

Unfortunately I don't see a specific document that describes the process for this product.

Thanks Siva. I did find the document you referred but it has a section on "Updating the Scheduler password" which refers to the schedulerconfig.xml, but on our system that file doesn't exist, which makes me wonder if this doc applies to the standalone version that we have here. The enterprise manager interface (/em ) doesn't come up, possibly due to a bug, and that isn't helping either.

Updated after the password changes: the scheduler section wasn't needed. Here is the link to the manual that was useful to me:

  • My bad Madhu, I misread your post and thought you wanted to avoid the password to expire…

Then the document shared by Siva is the one to follow.
