FDI Documentation Enhancement: Publish Outline Logic for Key Metrics
While the Oracle FDI documentation does outline the high-level logic behind metric calculations for ERP, HCM, SCM and all applicable functional pillars, I was not able to locate the same for Key Metrics.
Client teams often expect this to be available (when we had key user trainings sessions), so they can clearly understand how each metric is derived, validate the results against their source data, and ensure alignment with their internal reporting standards.
Including the outline logic for all major KPIs would significantly improve clarity, reduce back-and-forth during implementations, and help business users build confidence in the delivered analytics.

Oracle SR also confirms to create an idea
After reviewing the available Oracle documentation and consulting internally, I can confirm the following:
- Oracle publishes calculation logic only for Metrics (subject-area level measures).
- The detailed business logic used for Key Metrics (prebuilt KPIs) is not publicly documented and is not exposed in the standard FDI/FAW documentation.
- At this time, Oracle does not provide customer-facing documentation that includes the formulas or calculation expressions for Key Metrics.Because this information is not available in the product or documentation, the only official way for Oracle to consider exposing these formulas or providing additional visibility into Key Metric logic is through an Enhancement Request.
An Enhancement Request allows Oracle Product Management to review your requirement and determine whether this functionality (publishing or exposing Key Metric logic) can be introduced in a future release.
