Also as an FYI, When I open the RPD online and attempt to view dimension members in physical layer , it errors out with the same general error. Thanks for your help.

My RPD is set to 11.1.2.3.500 release. Will this cause connectivity issues? Thanks

Do you mean using an old essbase client where OBI resides? No. I was able to login to essbase and browse the cube properties via Maxl shell from OBI server. Thanks,
