DVD should be able to connect to BICS or the new Oracle Analytics Cloud- OAC.. I tested it and it works. What's the string or URL you're using?

I don't think you can leverage data models as in RPD subject areas but you can connect to an analysis that uses those subject areas. At least, based on my testing as of May 15, 2017. However, you can leverage your subject areas in Oracle Data Visualization Cloud.. Hope this help Anas
