Thanks Martin, Christian, and unamed-user . Let me take a look at the materials, and review the capabilities. I'll reply back with some comments/questions. In the meantime, are we saying that: it is possible to leave the analysis link enabled/visible, and control for editing/deleting through the catalog permissions? So, in…

Hi Martin, Thanks for the reply. Let me clarify ... We don't want either one (that's what I am saying). We removed the Analysis Analyze link already. And, we want to do the same for the 'Edit Dashboard' option. These are dashboards developed by IT, and placed under the shared folder for others to use, but not edit/modify.…

Hi ... thanks everyone for the ideas. Sounds like we have a general consensus on how to approach this, and some good links to further details. I'm going to work with our UNIX/Network teams to help us put something similar into place. Appreciate the input!

Thanks Christian. How would we implement something like that? I do have access to the application and database tiers, but beyond that I'd need to get other teams involved - not always a straight-forward task ... especially trying to get into a production environment.

Hi - a) If you have bigip ....may be re-direct it to maintenance page. Not sure about this. I'd have to reach out to some other teams (Network, UNIX, etc.) to find out. Probably not feasible for us to pursue. Thanks for the suggestion though ... b) If you have OHS server ...then bring down services on OHS ...still OBIEE…

Hi abuK, Could you use rsync (rsync -a)? Also, are you using an OS method like: tar czvpf? Regards, Charles

Hi ... thanks for the reply. a) how about bring services down ? Right, doable. But, the technical/development team may be working on things behind the scenes (releases, migrations, enhancements, etc.) - mostly, that would be the reason for doing this. There are some users who access the system, even during the overnight…

Hi 684461 - If you want to get your hands dirty, and dig a little bit, you could enable some more granular tracing/logging on the BI Server (bi_server1) ... potentially even the Admin server (AdminServer). This is done from the application-side, via the application server and/or the FMW EM console. As has already been…

Hi - There are several MOS notes on Excel/Excel exporting. Some of them are version-specific, so you'll need to sort that out (you should always include a basic description of you environment, including version numbers so community members can get relevant information to you). Here is one of the better notes on this topic.…

You're welcome. Glad it is working for you! Earlier I had tried this using OBIEE 11.1.1.7.14500 and found that it did not have the same GUI, apparently the catalog has been updated to what it is now in the update from 11.1.1.7.0 to 11.1.1.7.1. Interesting ... good catch on that version number! Also, one more thing about…

Hi - You should be able to use the 11.1.1.7 catalog manager. https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E63231_01/doc/BIASA/GUID-7C5492C6-CB1A-417B-B7DA-1C9FA00B38F1.htm#BIASA24677 Try this: https://edelivery.oracle.com Then, search for 'Oracle Business Intelligence Developer Client Tool 11.1.1.7.0' Regards, Charles

Hi All - Thanks for all of the input on this. I think we answered/covered my question ... and added some clarifications & helpful hints. I appreciate the participation. Regards, Charles

Ok, I was able to use the command line method. I can see that it made all of the changes under the shared folder. However, it did not make any changes to any of the users folders. Strange, because when I did it with the catalog manager, it did modify one user folder (the user I was logged in as ... ).

Thanks Gianni. I was able to do the rename from the catalog manager. Seems like everything is ok, as far as the new path is concerned. I was able to access/view all of the dashboards in the shared folder without any issues. Also, I did a search on the old path, and tried a find and replace again, but neither found any…

Hi, I was able to run the search & replace. This time, It looks like it made some changes (I copied the list out to a text file). Couple things: I noticed that it did not do anything with any of the users folders, other than the one of the user that I ran it as; seems like there were permissions errors. Also, I still see…

Ok, thanks Gianni. I don't think there are any special characters, only spaces. I've whited-out some characters, due to the public forum, but they are only letters. Let's say, for example, it is: ABC BI Reports Like, I was saying though, the search finds it as a folder ...

Thanks for confirming Christian. Also, it's good to know the Catalog Manager is an option too. I find the documentation on the Presentation Catalog/Catalog Manager to be a bit confusing anyway ... @Gianni Ceresa - Thanks for mentioning permissions/ownership. Definitely an important point! But, back to the XML Search and…

Hi Gianni, Just to confirm ... the full catalog backup can be done on the OS, right? I was reading the Oracle documentation, and it said not to use the Catalog Manager for archiving and unarchiving entire catalogs. I am on Linux, so I am using tar & gzip (on the directory just above root ... in my case, it is called…

Thanks for that, Christian. I'm following up on the material to understand this more.
