In addition to J's comment, Authors can choose to remove (or add) the Data Flow swim lane on their own home page. We do have plans to introduce alternative landing pages that will be configurable by an admin/owner regardless of the user role.

@Tim Vlamis the combination of the Data Quality insights in prep and the Auto Insights in workbooks is our replacements to the old insights feature. We will continue to enhance both with more capabilities.

Introducing variables into DV is an active project, but it is also a complex one. We are changing Narrate to include all Canvases by default instead of starting empty.
