Thank you for the reply, Gbenga. I have tried using the XSL subtemplate, but it appears to carry the requirement that we upload that subtemplate to the BI Catalog. Unfortunately, my scenario is a bit different, because the end target for this template is a PeopleSoft Report Definition, attached to a PeopleSoft Query - so…

Yeah, but shout to whom? I can rant over here in the forum all I want, but what good does it really do? I'm not a "customer". I'm an OBIEE trainer who is passionate about OBIEE, but I work for an Oracle Platinum Partner, so my voice carries no product $$$ of influence. I have introduced this feature to students in my…

That reminded me of this: Way back in the 1970's when he was just becoming famous, Steve Martin had a gag in which he noted that he was a successful comedian because "some people have a way with words, while others ... oh ... not have way". Your answers are usually right on target, Christian. Carry on, sir!

BINGO!!! Those are the exact words that make it clear, FTisiot. Take Year out of the mix, substitute Product instead - show me a trend for each Product by Month. As Christian noted, that is the spot-on way to think about it. The inclusion of the Year column does indeed muddy the waters because it is the same "conceptual…

OH ... MY ... GOODNESS!! From the link that Gbenga posted, it appears that a BUG allowed that option to be visible in Answers in the initial release of 12c, but now in the 12.2.1.2.0 release the "bug" has been "fixed", so that now the option is GONE in Answers. And if I'm reading Bug 22347229 correctly, it won't be added…

FTisiot, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, the "what's going on in the calculation" is still unclear to me. "It automatically gets assigned to the Grouping (by)" isn't resonating with me so that I can say "AH-HA, now I get it!" What does the 'Grouping (by)' really represent? Are we grouping the months together by…

I am embarrassed to say that I have messed up my default style on this exploration machine. But it is just that - an exploration machine - so I'll probably just install OBIEE 12c in a fresh machine and keep exploring in that new environment.
-
There must be something wonky with my system. Thanks for confirming, guys.
-
What happens if you display the Year column going down instead of the measure labels?
-
Everything else that I have tested is working fine. I was messing with a custom style, so that's probably the reason for the wonky icon. So, does the slider work for you on graphs in 12.1.2.1.0?
-
Thank you, Joel. Yup, that's the ticket. I was working in Firefox. I tried IE - worked fine. Cleared the Firefox cache, restarted Firefox - BAM! There it is. Good suggestion, sir. Thanks.

Christian, thank you for the reply. I'll have to let my client decide whether he would like to try it or not. The client is a university system with over a dozen separate campuses developing their own RPDs with multiple subject areas, and all will be merged into a master repository at the main campus. This is going to…

Nah, that's too simple. Gotta be harder than that!! Very elegant, Christian. Thank you. Now I'll need to think about that password. We certainly don't want to store it in the database in clear text, so encryption will be required. But that's not a big deal. The bigger hassle will be keeping that password column in sync…

This is SOOOO close to what I need, but it just barely misses. These instructions refer to permissions for web catalog objects. I need privileges (create Dashboard, Save Content with HTML Markup, and so forth.)
-
Perfect, Cesar. Thank you! That helped us to identify what was wrong - the port was not open to the outside world.
-
OK, excellent! it's good to learn a set of steps that will recreate the symptoms, even though that wasn't what I did. Still, doing exactly what I did sort of feels like a bug. Anyway, good to know it went away in 11.1.1.9.
-
Thank you for confirming that it works properly in 11.1.1.9. Because it behaves the same in 4 different browser in 11.1.1.7, I'm going to just assume that it's a .7 bug that has been fixed in .9. Marking your answer as 'Correct'.
-
I'm seeing the same behavior in: Chrome Version 54.0.2840.99 m Firefox 49.0.2 Microsoft Edge 38.14393.0.0 Internet Explorer 11.447.14393.01S Because it has been reported as NOT happening in 11.1.1.9, I will presume that it is just a bug in .7 that has been fixed. I'll check it out on .9 when I get to that release.

Oops, sorry for the delayed reply. I must have missed the notification. Yes, this was the answer we needed. Well, wait, no, it wasn't really the answer we NEEDED, but it is the CORRECT answer!
