@Alan Lee - Oracle-Oracle Thanks for clarification

Btw, what is also notable from this document is following: Feature: Inclusion of Oracle Analytics Clients as a part of Oracle Analytics Server installation Plan: Deprecated. Planned for desupport in Oracle Analytics Server 2024 update. This is , I would say, even worst message than Catalog Manager desupport. Pls, @Alan Lee…

@William Johnston See document What's Notable and Different in Oracle Analytics Server from OAS documentation set: https://docs.oracle.com/en/middleware/bi/analytics-server/whats-different-oas/index.html

@User_A8TPU If you encounter incorrect behavior, which has been working in previous release of OAS (which seems to be exactly your case) ,create SR with Oracle support and insist on providing the fix for it in OAS 2023 .You will need to create reproducible test case, but this should not be a problem, I guess.

In your logical SQL, try to provide some real default value for parameter P_DATE_VALEUR, instead of (''). This could help, I hope.

@gpeters Pls, look at my Idea: https://community.oracle.com/products/oracleanalytics/discussion/10337/oas-inclusion-of-file-based-data-into-snapshot created in 2021 -yours is duplicate, so pls, vote for my Idea to have synergy.

I am signing this Idea - if there will not be functionally adequate web-based replacement available for Catalog Manager till this time, Catalog Manager thick client GUI should stay in unchanged form.

@EzequielC-Oracle If you would read carefully, this discussion is named "Displaying filter selection while exporting the results of a DV Canvas" and your answer deals with good old "Classics".... @GayathriAnand-Oracle nand-Oracle Your recommendation does not reflect one basic fact - filters conditions, displayed for…

@User_K8ULU Your Idea is slightly similar to mine: https://community.oracle.com/products/oracleanalytics/discussion/18803/dv-parameters-usage-reference-in-data-set-definition-reference-in-physical-sql-definition. I want to propagate DV Parameter value to definition of manual SQL within data set definition), your use-case…

@Gabby Rubin-Oracle thanks for your comprehensive and honest reaction, I appreciate it. I understand, that it can be difficult to "implement" all features in OAS, especially those, bounded to other cloud services (like integration with AI services, OCI functions etc...). But in my humble opinion, features like REST API, DV…

@Gabby Rubin-Oracle Hi Gabby, honestly message from you, informing, that DV scheduling will not be available in on-premise Oracle Analytics Server is another bad surprise from Analytics Product Mgmt. Sorry to say that, but after learning, that REST API for DV is not planned for OAS (it is available, still in very limited…

@Luis E. Rivas -Oracle The video from @Philippe Lions-Oracle is fine, but procedure described here has several "drawbacks" (compared to method used in "Classical" - filter based on result of another analysis): 1) It requires from author some "literacy" of logical SQL statements (which is not the case for all authors - this…

@Marcelo Finkielsztein I had some time ago conversation with @Avinash Krishnaram-Oracle and have passed him Excel (see attachment) with list of features, that are in Classics, but missing in DV and which (if intention is to slowly "transfer" existing OBIEE/OAS/OAC customers from Classics to DV) need to be in place in DV…
-
@Harriet Huang-Oracle I would call those rules rather than rules for creating data sets using manual SQL, rules for constructing SQL in general (executed via any mean - for example in SQL Developer or within PL/SQL code). I have one addition , which is really purely related to writing SQL for usage in Data Sets: Avoid…

There is no REST API for DV available in OAS - see my Idea: https://community.oracle.com/products/oracleanalytics/discussion/18832/api-for-programmatically-manipulating-dv-objects-data-visualization-and-automate-dv-tasks-in-oas

Understand.... We are on OAS with no immediate/mid-term plans to "move" to OAC, so I don't have experience with REST API available in OAC (but still hope, that REST API will be also available in OAS).
-
@Marcelo Finkielsztein Your idea is named "DV snapshot automation in OAS", so this presumes, that you request this functionality for OAS. But apparently you are speaking about OAC..... You can automate all the stuff in OAC using REST API I guess. Rgds Michal

@Marcelo Finkielsztein Hi Marcelo, we are still (on OAS 7.0) using exportarchive.sh for automate on regular basis BAR creation and it is working. What problem with exportarchive.sh do you have on your environment ? It is just because Oracle recommends using creation of BAR file through DV Console (in UI) ? Truth is, that…

@Marcelo Finkielsztein Interesting - my impression is, that since there is no effort directed towards extending/improving Classic, the direction is to slowly (not immediately) switch/replace Classics to DV. But apparently nobody from Analytics Product Mgmt is willing to say it directly to give customer clear "direction"…

Voting for this idea. In "classical" Dashboards this is very much used feature/option (to preserve values for filtering along with adjustments of analysis exposed on Dashboards( . Thus if DV should replace classical tools somewhere in the future, it is must have capability in DV.
