I think Excel is not supporting such layout. Thus Excel rendered report is showing differently than e.g. Word or PDF. Try putting image in adjacent separate column.

You may put that mapping in db table. Then just modify your query to look for classes based on Dept# param. Other way is to use hard-coded mapping of functional variable in data model, but I doubt it is good solution.

Try adding roles to parent folder, for view/open/traverse etc. and propagate to subfolders/items. Sometimes roles get misconfigured on parent/child folders/items for strange reasons.
