Employee_Employee.pdf means you've saved both the report and the template with the same name. Adopt a sensible naming convention... If most of your reports have one tamplate (tab) then use Report ... Now you have Employee_Report.pdf If you've got various templates, then perhaps something like:…

PMs should PM ... This ask is not in PMing ... ignore the ask.

The role/skill-set lines aren't blurred ... unless the concept of a team is abandoned. What OBIA contains is a massively valuable asset - needs a team to support it. The 'one-man band' can't play this tune very effectively. Once properly supported, the asset needs a team who knows how to employ it profitably.

Usually in the bag of tools for a sales person is an IN PERSON visit with demo ... if some have a recording of it, not sure someone would just hand it over to you.

+1 @Robert Angel It's your datatypes ...
-
Where's my Beem meme - "one does not simply drag and drop in OBIA" ... You are trying to combine two elements that are not logically related in the underlying OBIA Core model ... what you need is a true customization of the Core Model - for which there are rules to follow so you don't screw yourself for upgrades.

+1 @Gianni Ceresa Good point ... I have always had a static DB connection for importing metadata into RPD ... once imported I copy into the connection that has variables ....
-
Never underestimate the genius of simple. ^ quote me on it!
-
ODBC connection ... standard way just like any other ODBC connection. Here's a start: http://joegamble.net/blog/obiee-12c-configure-import-data-odbc-sources-exalyticslinux/

Only someone who has actually used the tool for years should be vetting requirements ... else there's no balance between "just do what the user asks" and "foist my will on the user".

Data Virtualization Products | Composite Software ^ possibly this ... This product supports odbc ... but I don't know of anyone who has used it ... one issue you might run into is performance depending on the physical modeling of the data in that tool. Of course modeling in BMM layer will force the issue of logical stars -…

It actually does ... you can't do what you asked to do.

OBIEE is not a pixel perfect reporting tool - it is an online analytical tool. You won't find exhaustive formatting options ...
-
Again - you need a lookup/translation table ... USE drives DESIGN. Store your data in it's usable format.
-
USE Drives Design ... create a subject area that has the data already conformed and related from the BMM layer. Then you don't need a union and the Order Type attribute is not an issue and SUM(Quantity) works as expected.
-
Build a code/value, name/description table ... a lookup table in your database. Then model the lookup in the RPD.
-
+1 top the other replies ... you realize you are asking some of us to divulge work product & knowledge that we sell to feed our families ... we can help but if you want the end-to-end plan - that's a paid role.
-
use the same connection details and try it in SQL developer ... rule out the install/config of your oracle client.
-
That's the functionality ... OBIEE is an on-screen analytical tool -- don't expect pixel perfect reporting or advanced reporting capabilities
