Eloqua's Move to OCI Data Centers

Oracle Eloqua is excited to announce the move from our legacy data centers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Oracle has a longstanding reputation for providing innovative technologies that empower organizations to meet their most demanding business needs. One of our latest advancements is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). As the foundation of Oracle's second-generation cloud, OCI is a purpose-built, best-in-class platform for running enterprise applications. OCI is engineered from the ground up to run mission-critical databases, workloads, and applications while providing end-to-end security. Oracle's data centers around the globe are standardizing on the new OCI architecture which will deliver even greater performance and reliability.
This move will eliminate the challenges of managing our legacy data centers and delivers greater control, predictability, performance, and availability for the Eloqua platform as we move into OCI Data Centers. Ultimately, this also gives us the ability to focus on other innovation investments and other ways to help our customers drive growth.
What to Expect
- All Eloqua environments (production and sandbox, if applicable) will be moved from the Eloqua data centers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data centers starting in October 2020 and wrapping up in 2023.
- There will be no underlying geographical changes to where your Eloqua environments are located. Customers will be placed in an OCI data center in the same country as the legacy data center and their data will remain in the same country of residence as it was prior to move.
- Some Eloqua customers may need to take action to prepare for the move. More information will be provided if/when you need to take action.

Q: What is OCI?
A: Oracle has a longstanding reputation for providing innovative technologies that empower organizations to meet their most demanding business needs.
Q: Why is Eloqua moving data centers? Why into OCI?
A: Fortunately, Eloqua can move to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure(OCI) data centers. OCI is a purpose-built, best-in-class platform for running enterprise applications. The move to OCI will eliminate the challenges of managing our legacy data centers and delivers greater control, predictability, performance, and availability for the Eloqua platform. Ultimately, this also gives us the ability to focus on other innovation investments and other ways to help our customers drive growth.
Q: When does our Eloqua environment move to OCI? How long will it take?
A: Each Eloqua environment is located in a POD. Each POD will have a 9 hour maintenance window added to accommodate the move to OCI. See the schedule above for POD specific maintenance dates.
Q: What about our sandbox? Will it be moved as well?
A: All Eloqua environments (production and sandboxes, if applicable) will be moved from the Eloqua data centers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data centers starting in October 2020 and wrapping up in 2023.
Q: Can we change the date/opt out of having our Eloqua environment moved to OCI data center?
A: No, as with our releases, all customers are updated at the same time. Our legacy data centers are all being shutdown, thus the move is mandatory.
Q: Will the login page URL or passwords change? Will our SSO(Single Sign-On) be impacted with the move to the OCI data center?
A: No, there will be no changes to URLs, password or your SSO.
Q: Where will my data reside after the move to OCI?
A: There will be no changes to the country of data residence. The legacy data center and the new OCI data center your Eloqua environment will be moved to will be identical.
Q: How can I get emails about Eloqua's Move to OCI?
A: You will definitely want to ensure you or your Eloqua Admin from your organization has signed to up to receive our critical communications related to the Move to OCI and other support related matters. You can follow the instructions to do so here: https://community.oracle.com/topliners/discussion/4470679/how-to-ensure-you-receive-critical-eloqua-support-communications
Q: Is there anything we should avoid doing during the Move to OCI maintenance window?
A: The application and the various associated services will be intermittently unavailable within the duration of the maintenance window. It is also important to note that Eloqua forms and landing pages may also be occasionally unavailable during this time. Your are advised to adjust your campaigns accordingly. Please do not trigger Sandbox replications the day before the Move to OCI maintenance window for your POD. If possible, you are recommended to pause you external integrations the day of the Move to OCI maintenance window.
Q: Will I have to update any of my emails, landing pages, forms, campaigns, apps or integrations as a result of the move to the OCI data center?
A: No, generally speaking the Move to OCI should be very transparent and happen the in the background for all customers. You will not be required to change/update any emails, landing pages, forms, campaigns, or integrations. That said, there are a few scenarios where some customers may need to take action. For example, customers may need to contact their IT Team to make some quick DNS configuration changes on their behalf. Otherwise, a small group of customers on POD 1 may need to go through an IP Warming Process (Note: all customers who are affected by this have already been notified)

Hello Jody,
We want to ensure, that after the migration all elements of the instance have been migrated successfully. Therefore, we are planning to do some checks afterwards.
Can you please share guidelines, how we can check the elements of the instance in the most effective way?
As the instance is quite big with lots of elements included, it´s not practical to check every email, every image, every activity line etc. for example.
How is the migration monitored from Oracle side? Are there any error log files available, which will be shared to be aware or is there the possibility of a roll back, if the issues will be too critical?
Thank you for your help in advance.
Kind regards,
Sonja

Update June 24, 2021: Please be advised we are still working on confirming dates for the Eloqua POD 6 maintenance that was scheduled for Jan 15, 2021 but was postponed. We do anticipate the maintenance still happening in 2021, and will ensure customers are given a minimum of 60 days notice. We will provide an updated date when possible.
