How to Setup the BP IP Warming Program

Eloqua has already created an IP Warming program template. It take only a few minutes to setup, but prior to working in program builder you need to do two steps:

1) Build the email that will be used for the IP Warming Campaignip

2) Create a Segment that you want to send the email to.

Go to: Setup > Program Builder > BP- IP Warming

step1.jpg

It's recommended that rather than modifying the BP - IP Warming template, you create a copy.

step2.jpg

Add Members to the very first step called "100. Add Contacts" > Choose Source: Contact Filter > Contact Filter > Search for the "Segment"  you created > Press OK

step4.jpg

The next step in the process to add the email. Scroll down to the step "All: 999 Batch Send": press the small arrow > Edit Step Default Action > Send Batch Email > And then search and choose for the email you already created > hit save and close.

step5.jpg

Those are the only two changes you need to make to the IP Warming Program Template.

The IP Warming program is setup to start on a Sunday. You could start the program sooner, by adding contacts to the "Y: Pre-Split Hold" step.

step 6.jpg

To activate the program select: Program > Enable Program > And then you should be able to choose Bulk or Priority mode

Thanks for this post! One question- I have created the segment however; when I go to step 100 and select to Add Members to this step, I don't see an option to pick a segment just filters. Thoughts?

    Hi @Rebecca Franco

To add the members you would actually leverage either a Shared List or Shared Filter (which previously in E10 had to be created via the Segment area). I think that's what Patrick meant by "Segment" in his notes above. As a note, if you select Contact Group, this will pull from your collection of Shared Lists.

Also - you may actually want to change the Send Email steps to Move to Campaign Steps. This will give you much more detail in your reporting than the reporting you'll receive sending the email direct from Program Builder.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @Victoria Bull,

I'm taking your suggestion of changing the Send Email step to Move to Campaign Step. I so far just have the email on the campaign canvas. I'm assuming I'll need to setup a segment to capture the contacts who are being moved to the campaign from the program and who would then be sent the email. Is that correct? If so, what would that segment setup look like?

    Thanks!

    Rebecca

    Hi @Rebecca Franco

Once you select the step action to be "Move to Campaign" you would then select your campaign and you can select the specific step in the campaign you wish to add the contacts to. Therefore you don't actually need to feed them through a Segment, you could just add them directly to an email step.

    Victoria

We don't see the BP - IP Warming as an option under Program Builder. Was it changed recently?

Hi Patrick. Great post, thanks for sharing! I'm an Eloqua newbie who's getting ready for IP Warming. Is this all there is to setting up the BP IP Warming Program in Eloqua, or what else should we know? We're also considering engaging Professional Services since this is such an important first step.

    Hi Patrick and Victoria,

Thank you for this post. I have a question. We already enable this IP Warming program and then we found out that the emails were sent at 1:00 AM everyday. We want to change the schedule, however, we don't know if we disable the program, then change the schedule, and the re-enable the program, at which step this program will restart? Does it continue in the step we stopped? or Does it start in the first step? Will the contacts receive again the email?

    Thank you for your help.

    Best Regards,

    Sandra Cantor

    HI,

    @1135694 (Patrick)

The default program includes steps to add members to the bounceback and or unsubscribe groups. However, it is not obvious how this works or if additional configuration is required. Has anyone already covered this in another post?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I am not able to find this program in my Program builder. Has this been changed?

    Thanks,

    Galia

  • Hi,

I too have the same question as @keelaro. Any additional configurations required? @Victoria Bull-Oracle

Before activating the IP warming program, do we need to configure any of the action items for the below three steps or is it automatically filled up with bounce back contacts/unsubscribed contacts/master exclude contacts?

    Steps:

    1. Bounced Back Contacts (adds to BB group)

    2.Unsubscribed Contacts (Add to group)

    3. All: Excluded Master or Global (Add to group)

If we need to configure anything, do let us know how ?
