Identifying deleted contacts

Hi,
Is it possible to identify deleted contacts via the API? We are in the process of cleansing our database, but need to be able to pick up contacts that have been deleted from Eloqua so that we can update our EIP platform and remove the contacts from there too. This would be an on-going requirement, rather than a once off process...
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi @Neil Howieson
Thank you for reaching out to the community forum with your question.
Unfortunately, there is no way of recovering deleted contact data via API or any other way.
I recommend reading this Eloqua Help Center articles for details and related information.
Also, this topliners post to delete contacts automatically within a program using deduplication rules.

Eloqua data retention details what is and isn't kept when you delete a contact. https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/marketing/eloqua-user/Help/Contacts/AboutContactDataRetention.htm
It is best to work out a business process that gathers the information you need before deleting the contact. As another suggestion, from Insight, you can still get the contact ID of a deleted contact. You could use those IDs perhaps but they are not available through the API.
