Mid Year Review Process- how to build this into one process for annual reviews?

We are using Goal Management and now are developing our performance documents for our annual review process. We usually do a mid-year review and then use the same template for year end review. When looking at the set up I am not seeing anything for mid year review process. How has this been done? My preference is one document for the full cycle but we will want to report on who has had mid year reviews and how hasn't. 

Any advice on how to proceed?
