Goals continous feed into Performance Appraisals

Summary

Is there a way for Goals to be updated during the performance cycle?

We have updated our Performance Appraisal templates to include Goals. The only issue is that as soon as we open the Performance document (usually Oct 31) if Goals are updated after this date the updates do not feed into the Performance Appraisal document. Anyone have a solution?
