Delegate Workflow Escalation

We have the escalation rule(L2 line manager) set for absence workflow.

If line manager 'L1' has delegated the absence notification to Employee 'D1'. When L1's direct report submits the absence request and it is not actioned by D1 and now escalated. So, My question is that escalated notification will go to L1's line manager(L2) or D1's Line manager?
