lengthofservice calculation in Calculate accruals and balances

Need to know the basis date for lengthofservice calculation in Calculate accruals and balances process

I have several examples of employees where the lengthofservice calculation basis date is not a single date. For some it is based on Enterprise Hire date and for others it is based on an adjusted hire date (per_periods_of_service.attribute_date1 field)

I do not see where it is set to evaluate which date to use and I am trying to find where this information is set. I have looked at the logs from the process and looks like it uses the adjusted hire date if there is one, otherwise, the process uses the enterprise hire date.
