Manager unable to view notes on direct reports check in document

Hi
I have a query.
We are using Check-in Document for ad hoc discussions throughout the year with employees. Both the line manger and direct report can create. However the Line manager is unable to see thier direct reports notes against the checkin discussion topic. Whereby the employee can see both the manager notes and thier own.
I would have expected both the line manager and direct report to have visiability of both. (Please see attached document with screenshots).
