mail trigger to employee on assigning a goal plan

Summary: When we are assigning a goal plan, will the mail triggers to the employee automatically along with the notification in the bell icon or we need to configure any settings for the mail trigger to notify the employees that the Goal Plan XXXXX is available.

Can someone please advise me on this.
