Can we read a Absence projected balance into a Validation Fast formula

Hi everyone,

can we read a projected Absence balance into a Absence validation fast formula and have a error message not to go beyond the projected balance?

Context is: we want to allow the employees to go into negative for an accrual plan to use entire annual leave on day one and dont allow them go beyond their annual liming which wont be calculated till 12/31 of the current year.

Can we read the projected balance as of 12/31 and cap it at that amount.
