Single assignment absence approval routed as multiple assignment

We were wondering if anyone within the community has experienced this.

We have employees with one (1) assignment. They have never had additional assignments since the start of their employment.

They submit an absence. The approval goes to the "Global Absence Recording - Multiple Assignment" route instead of "Global Absence Recording - Single Assignment".

Would you have an idea of the root cause of this behavior?
