Is it manadatory to enable new time and absence architecture?

Summary:

We wanted to use new feature of Absence UOM in days to be displayed in time-cards. Prerequisite is to run the upgrade feature.

We would like to assess the impacts since the client is live already and implementing new Absence & OTL scope. Kindly advise, what could be potential impacts
