Best Practices for Configuring Promotions in Position-Synchronized Compensation Plans

Our customer is utilizing position synchronization, which restricts the ability to update job/grade on the assignment screen.
Currently, we are configuring a new compensation plan that incorporates both merit increases and promotions. However, when enabling the proposed Job and proposed Grade fields, the system does not filter out only valid job/grade options based on the worker’s current position. This introduces a risk where compensation managers might inadvertently select incorrect values.
An even bigger concern arises when transferring data to HR. Despite no errors being reported, the assignment’s effective start date updates to the compensation posting date with the action "Allocate Workforce Compensation," yet no actual changes occur in the job or grade.
