DFF and SLA for multiperiod accounting

Good morning everyone,
the request is to use two Flexfields (FDFs) open in the RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_LINES from which to derive the start date and end date pertaining to the transaction. I was reading that it is essential to enable these two fields as sources in the SLA. Can anyone provide a guide of the necessary steps?
