Compensation change statement - User-Defined Date Columns not available

Building a compensation change statement I'd like to show one of the new user-defined date columns available in my letter : Date Column 1

Wondering how to get its attribute I dowloaded the Attribute List from the template list.

Here is what I found :

I guessed that It shoud match to the first line (VALUE1) : I added it in my template. Unfortunatly the information did not showed up : adding a date for a sample employee in my plan did not work. Letter only showed blank (rest of the letter was fine).

I'm not sure which attribute to use. I tried randomly different format (see list below) : none have worked.
