If we remove the email recipient from talent notifications will the release override our changes?

Summary:

We were receiving duplicate notifications for goals when the manager or worker added, edited, etc a goal. We found in Alerts Composer that if we remove the email recipient and leave on worklist it resolved the issue. But our concern is that when the next release is pushed, these changes would revert back.
Can someone confirm our solution will work or be overridden?
