How to Retire a Program and Reduce Accruals to Zero for volume based

Summary:

The business scenario is that a customer did not claim accruals after 3 years for a volume based program. As part of the contract, the customer must claim accruals within 3 years or the accruals will expire. In this case the accrual (liability) needs to be reduced to zero, however, volume programs cannot be adjusted. The only workaround we have is to be setup as a customer as a customer and process the claim to with a check/default AP method. How are others handling this requirement?
