Enable/Disable Feed Filters in teh Ask Oracle Action Bar:

On the Sales objects: Account, Contact, Lead and Opportunity (those object which can use the Activity Feed), options exist in the Ask Oracle Action Bar to filter the contents of the Activity Feed subview based on the type of record. These filters begin with the keyword: Filter and are followed by a type of business object like All Communications, Task, Appointments.

The Activity Feed subview is optional (as are all subviews). If you have decided to remove the Activity Feed subview in your organization, you'd likely want to suppress those filter options for the Activity Feed subview too. This video will show you how to accomplish that.
