Redwood Migration Impact - Talent Management

One of my clients is planning to migrate their talent management module from RUI to REDWOOD. However, their Core HR (Job, Position etc.) is still in RUI. So if we migrate Talent Module which include Goals & Performance only, is their any impact? Can we migrate only one or two modules? Or is it necessary to migrate the Core HR - workforce structure also into REDWOOD. Please suggest.
