Ability to Edit Pending Workers Position

Our customer has a requirement to edit the Position (and all of the associated detail) on a Pending Worker prior to hire. Often in recruiting, they find a more senior/credentialed candidate that would be entitled to a different position but do not know until after the requisition has been posted and recruited for. On the Edit Pending Worker page, this field is locked on the VBS side and we cannot make it editable. It also does not appear to be editable within the requisition either.

We use position control and hire all workers via requisitions created by position. Are there any viable workarounds other than creating a whole new requisition to get the new hire into the new position?
