Can the dates for the components of a kit item be changed on a sales order?

Summary:

When creating an order with a kit item (item with a structure), have noticed that the scheduled ship & arrival dates can be overridden for the parent/kit item (that is, the edit/pencil icon on the fulfillment line is enabled), but not for the subsequent components.
But since few of the components can be Make items & may have some lead time for manufacturing so their available/scheduled dates may vary.

Is it like whatever scheduled dates are there on the kit item (line 1), same will appear in its components too (line 1.1/1.2/1.3 etc)..?

So just wanted to understand what is the system design for dates on kit item & thier component lines ? And secondly, if needed, can those dates be modified ? If so, what are the possible options or workarounds?
