UK Statutory Sick Pay for Phased Returns

Our UK client would like to pay Statutory as well as Company Sick Pay for employees on Phased Return who work part of the week.

The employee has had an extended period of Sickness say 10 weeks. As part of Phased Return, the employee returns to work 3 days a week and is on Sick Leave for 2 days. As the absence is less than 4 days, SSP does not pay out. Is there a way to make Oracle recognize this a continuation of previous Sickness and not a new Sick record? The absences are linked as the first Sickness and second are in the 56 days linking period.
