Expiry Rule for existing Absences

Hi,

We would like to understand if enabling "Action on BPM Transaction Expiry" in Absence Type and "Expiration" under Absence Approval Deadline will impact the existing absences that are pending for approval.

Example:

We have a requirement to clean up the pending absences in the approval queue. We are planning to use HDL to mark them as completed. However, if we enable the Expiry Rule condition to auto-approve when approvers take no action for 14 days, will it also pick up the existing absences that are currently pending in the queue? or HDL is the only option?
