Partners Paternity Bereavement

Summary:

From 29 December 2025, regulations will bring into force bereaved partner's paternity leave. This will provide access to special leave in situations where the mother or adopter of a child dies in childbirth, or within a year of the birth or adoption.

The Act will in this situation allow the father, or partner of the mother or adopter, to take statutory paternity leave without requiring 26 weeks' service with the employer.

Will Oracle be providing within its End of Year2025-26/Start of Year 2026-27 Patching, functionality to record this?

As new Legislation is then coming into force from 6 April 2026, the Employment Rights Act 2025 will remove both above restrictions for all fathers and non-birthing partners in any event, giving them access to leave from the first day of their employment.
