Is it possible to display a number as a percent in a user defined field

Summary: We need a user defined field to recognize the number in the field as a percent, but we do not see a user defined field with a percent format and we don't see an option to change a numeric user defined field's format to percent.

Asking this question because the percent field we need is also used in a calculation so if 10 is entered in the numeric user defined field the calculation won't recognize 10 as a percent an the calculation will be wrong. Example: we would like 10 to show in the field rather than .1
